Horacio Nuguid currently resides in Rochester, Minnesota and is an active performer in the region. Critics and audiences have been inspired and captivated with his elegance and beautiful tone at the piano. From 2003 to 2010, Nuguid collaborated as soloist with conductor Jere Lantz and the Rochester Symphony Orchestra in the performances of Mozart’s 21st, Rachmaninoff’s 2nd, Brahms’ 2nd and Beethoven’s 4th and 5th piano concertos. Other notable appearances as soloist include performances with the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra, Austin Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonia da Camera. As a solo and chamber music pianist, Nuguid performed recitals in major cities such as Manila, Lucerne, New York, Chicago, San Jose, Minneapolis and St. Paul. He is the founder and current artistic director of the Rochester Chamber Music Society. Born in Manila, Philippines, Horacio Nuguid began formal music training at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music at age 14. He studied piano, first with Milagros de Ocampo and later with Stella Goldenberg Brimo. As a young student, Nuguid developed a fine technical command of the instrument and, at age 18, was awarded the top prize at the National Music Competition for Young Artists. After the completion of his Bachelor of Music Degree in 1983, Nuguid accepted another scholarship award to study in the United States. He continued piano studies with Howard Aibel and Ian Hobson, and subsequently completed the Master of Music Degree at the University of Northern Iowa and the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Horacio Nuguid is also an active music teacher. He and his wife, Rosanna, maintain a full teaching load of select piano students in the Rochester area. Their students have consistently done well in their own performances and have had successes in state and regional piano competitions. Horacio Nuguid currently serves as a clinician at the Young Artist World Piano Festival held at Bethel University in St. Paul, working together with internationally renown piano teachers and teaching some of the finest young artists in the nation.
David Townsend is a soloist, educator, and woodwind repair technician residing in Rochester, Minnesota. He is currently in his 22nd year as principal clarinetist of the Rochester Orchestra & Chorale, as well as his 21st year as restoration and repair specialist serving woodwind musicians nationwide. His concerto performances include works by Mozart, Weber, Spohr, Bruch, Krommer, Karl Stamitz, Molter, and Copland. His education includes degrees from Indiana University, Michigan State University, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Arizona. Additional summer study in performance was done at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. His teachers include John Denman, Rudolf Jettel, Enrico Mainardi, Keith Stein, Elsa Ludwig-Verdehr, Lawrence Maxey, Joseph Allard, and Henry Gulick. Dr. Townsend served three years as a clarinetist and recitalist with the USMA Band at West Point, New York. He then taught instrumental music in the public schools of East Lansing, Michigan, and for nine years was a studio teacher, chamber music coach, and conductor at colleges in Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Mississippi. While studying in Arizona, he gave woodwind repair seminars at the University of Arizona. His career has afforded extensive experience as a performer with many diverse professional, college, and civic chamber ensembles. In the last four years, he has been on call with several show bands and orchestras.
Mr. Adam Lange-Pearson holds Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in cello performance from the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Stephen Doane and Pamela Frame. He has played in numerous orchestras, including the Rochester Philharmonic (Rochester, NY), the Charleston Symphony, and the Heidelberg Schosspiele, and has been active as a solo and chamber musician, as well as a teacher and conductor. He has led SEMYO's Concert Orchestra for more than a decade. Mr. Lange-Pearson also holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Computer Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology (NY), and is a software engineer at IBM. He lives in Rochester with his wife and three children.
