After another exciting and successful season, the Rochester Chamber Music Society looks to its 2011-2012 concert series with great anticipation.
We begin our 9th season with the young and sensational Rochester cellist Joseph Kuipers. Playing with “fresh sincerity...combined with technical sovereignty over the instrument,” Joseph will perform with me among other works, Rachmaninoff’s beloved Piano/Cello Sonata, specially requested by one of our sponsors. The second concert of the season, highlighted by the four movement suite of La Revue de Cuisine by Martinů, will feature local talents for a taste of charming music from the 20th century. Also in the program will be a work written by Rochester composer Nebojsa Macura, his Second Nocturne for Clarinet and Piano. Moving on to 2012, our concert in January will be a presentation of the rarely performed Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du Soldat. This theatrical work will be performed by a septet of different instrumentalists plus narrator and dancer. This will surely be a one-of-a-kind performance. Our concert in February will feature a delightful program of solos, duos and trios for flute, cello and piano by the award-winning Trio Dolce. Finally, our last concert will be a vocal recital by “one of Twin Cities’ most popular singers” Maria Jette. Her crystalline voice returns to Rochester for a delectable feast of French Arts Songs.
Come and join us for some evenings of great music, wonderful socializing and enticing refreshments, all at no charge to you! Our concerts are indeed the best deal in town, made possible in part by your generous contributions. Also, please consider making tax-deductible contributions to RCMS. Your continued support is vital to the success and existence of our chamber music society. Thank you!
